Tariffs are taxes that governments put on goods coming in from another country.
Canadian exporters can use the Canada Tariff Finder to get tariff information for specific products and countries where Canada has an FTA.
Who will be affected by current US Tariffs?
All Canadian companies will face a tariff; the amount will depend on what’s being imported.
Canadian companies that rely on cross-border supply chains will face logistical and financial challenges.
Current US Tariffs on Canada include:
35% baseline tariff applied to all countries.
50% on all aluminum and steel entering the U.S. from Canada.
35% tariff on all imports that don’t comply with the Canada-US-Mexico Agreement (CUSMA), 10% tariff potash and energy that don’t comply with CUSMA, 50% tariff is kept on steel and aluminum, and 25% tariff on all automobiles and auto parts not built in the U.S.
U.S. suspension of the de minimis treatment for express shipments for all trading partners
Current negotiations with the US for a new trade agreement are underway but are proceeding slowly. Numbers shown here are from September 1, 2025 and are subjected to change.
